Get the App

Install NCI Worms Head straight to your phone or computer's home screen. It's free, takes under a minute, and once it's installed it keeps working even where mobile signal is patchy out on the headland.

Why Install It

Works with patchy signal

Reception around the headland and causeway is often poor. Once you've installed the app and opened it at least once with signal, the live Causeway Tracker, tide windows, and safety information keep working even if you lose signal entirely — the crossing-time calculation runs on your device, off your phone's own clock.

One tap, no searching

The icon sits on your home screen like any other app, so you can check the Causeway Tracker the moment you arrive — no need to remember a web address or dig through your browser history.

Free, no account, no store

This isn't a paid app or a separate download from an app store — it's this website, installed. There's nothing to buy and nothing to sign up for. It doesn't track you, use advertising cookies, or run in the background draining your battery — see our privacy policy for details.

Using the Turn-Back Reminder

The Causeway Tracker has a Turn-Back Reminder that sounds an alert when it's time to head back from the Worm. Here's how to get the most from it:

  • Your screen won't go to sleep. While the reminder is on, we stop your phone's screen turning itself off, so it can keep counting down — you don't need to keep tapping it.
  • Leave the page open, with the volume up. The reminder can't sound if you lock your phone with the power button, switch to another app, or close the page — your phone pauses the page when you do.
  • Start with a good charge. Keeping the screen on uses more battery than usual.
  • It's a backup, not a replacement for watching the time. For extra peace of mind, also set an alarm on your phone's own clock for your turn-back time — that will ring even if your phone is locked.

Support the Volunteers Behind It

The app itself costs nothing — there's no charge to install it or use it. If it's helped keep you safer on the causeway, though, the unpaid volunteer watchkeepers of the charity that staff this station 365 days a year would really appreciate a donation towards their equipment and running costs.
