This statement is about this website itself — how easy it is to use if you're using a screen reader, navigating by keyboard, zooming the text, or have another access need. For the physical terrain around the Lookout Station and the route to Worms Head, see our Find Us and Walking the Worm pages instead — that's a different kind of accessibility, and we cover it there.
What we've done
- Checked and improved text colour contrast across the site so it's easier to read in bright sunlight or for visitors with low vision.
- Written descriptive alt text for every photo, rather than leaving images unlabelled.
- Used a logical heading structure on every page, so the content makes sense read out by a screen reader.
- Made sure the site can be used with a keyboard alone, without a mouse or touchscreen.
- Built the site so text can be resized in your browser without breaking the layout.
Conformance status
We're aiming for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard most commonly used for website accessibility. We believe it substantially meets that standard based on the work described above, but this has not been checked by a formal, independent accessibility audit, so we can't state full conformance with certainty.
Known limitations
- The Causeway Tracker's live tide clock updates automatically every second to stay accurate. If that's unhelpful with your assistive technology, reloading the page always shows the current calculated status without needing to wait for the live update.
- Some linked documents and films (for example, RNLI safety guides) are hosted by other organisations and outside our control — they may not meet the same standard as this site.
- The Welsh and Chinese versions of this site are produced by the station itself rather than a professional translation service, and haven't yet been checked by a fluent speaker for natural phrasing (each translated page carries a note to this effect).
